Edge of Twilight

Not to be confused with the teen vampire-riddled Twilight stories by Stephanie Meyer, Edge of Twilight is something completely extraordinary.

This will probably be the first time you'll ever have heard of the game. The official website describes the game as a "3rd person action adventure game developed for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms presenting a unique post-apocalyptic, steampunk fantasy world that has been split into separate realms of Day and Night"

That certainly captured my interest…  More

A few days ago, Hi Rez Studios, who are working on an MMO Shooter called Rogue Agenda, put out an animated short showing their take on how the elves of fantasy lore would survive in a techonologically advanced world.

This being entitled Battle #1, I would imagine and hope there are a few more inside jokes of this sort to come from Hi Rez!

Global Agenda incidentally, looks like a blend of FPS/action gameplay coupled with a class system and a player-held progressive world (in the style of EvE corpor…  More

Robert Hernandez from Sony DADC (the makers/owners of SecuROM) has contacted Reclaim Your Game and requested an interview for the "opportunity to answer some of the claims made on [the] site."

For those that don't want to read a whole article before finding out where they can spam suggest their insightful questions, I'll cut to the chase before telling the whole story. Firstly, RYG have laid some ground rules.

We are looking for QUESTIONS here, NOT rants, NOT opinions, NOT pointless rage. Keep it …  More

Half-Life 2: Episode 3 is Moby Dick for us Valve and Gordon Freeman fans.  News regarding the game has been as scarce with only a few teaser images since the release of Episode 2, some of which you can see below.  I decided to toss together a slight refresher on the game via this wishlist.  There are a few plots questions below.  On top of that there are a handful of gameplay requests and mechanics issues covered too.  I hope you enjoy the list and be sure to offer up your own requests regarding…  More

Demigod: RTS or PRG?

Real-Time Strategy or Role Playing Game… What is in fact Demigod’s genre?
There are many discussions surrounding what genre Demigod (DG) falls under. As we all know, DG and Defense of the Ancient (DotA) is very similar in game design. Many gamers, including previous DotA players say DG is far better than DotA, but then many DotA fans would protest against this statement. But let’s not go into a flame war about which game is better. The question about what genre they fall unde…  More

With the current Web 2.0 trends and the ever increasing importance that is being placed on the online components of PC and console games I believe it's time the industry revamped their take on what makes a solid online game. Just about every new title that is being released has some type of multiplayer included and most of the times it just appears as it was slapped on at the last minute to appease the reviewers who are quick to dock points for a lack of it.

I think it's time the developers truly…  More

Many of us love and regard Shadow of the Colossus and Little Big Planet as nothing less than masterpieces and it would seem that the creative people at Media Molecule would appear to share our views with their official tributes (in the form of DLCs) to the aforementioned games as sackboys in Little Big Planet.  The creative pairing couldn't be more complimentary.

LBP creators Media Molecule released a little piece of art on the LittleBigPlanet Central forums a couple of weeks back to quietly …  More

Diablo III

When quizzed as to how boss battles will play out in Diablo III and whether players can expect to see the same predictable boss fights as they did in Diablo II, Blizzard community manager Bashiok confirmed that the game would feature unique boss fights and provided an example of one such battle.

"I hope you're not calling that an interesting fight, or saying Diablo II was replayable because it had no mechanics beyond the boss' abilities.

In Diablo III we want at least some boss fights that …  More

Left 4 Dead 2

Let me start by saying, I am very fond of valve. I have played their PC games for almost 10+ years starting with Half-Life. In the past valve has a very good track record with their customers in regards to supporting their titles. You wouldn't have to look much further than TF2 to see this, as a game that retailed in a bundle it has seen a lot of love from valve in the form of numerous updates and patches that added a ton of new content to the game.

So when Left 4 Dead 2 was announced I…  More

Translator on the Moon
This years edition of the Electronic Entertainment Expo has passed, and a slew of humorous memes have spawned in the wake of its aftermath.

Among them is an image meme featuring the charismatic translator of Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi, as seen on the live broadcast, taking notes during the otherwise uneventful presentation of the new Gran Turismo PSP.

What sets this guy apart from the other translators is his cool demeanor and the curious notepad he brought along with him. Being as…  More
Plenty of things have happened in Hellforge and our sister site Limit Break in the past couple of weeks. It's been a busy time of the year as E3 brought the announcements of at least a dozen 'must-have' games, including a slew of details about the sequel to the fantastic Bioware RPG, Mass Effect; an all new Final Fantasy, which is quite possibly free to play; and Left 4 Dead 2, which was met with mixed reactions.

For anyone who felt too inundated by the announcements over the days, Slapnuts and…  More
Left 4 Dead Protest

What began as a small thread on the official Steam Powered forums has quickly snowballed into a full fledged movement to boycott Left 4 Dead 2 in protest of the recent announcement of the upcoming sequel and fears that the original game, not even a year old, would be abandoned.

Amindst the storm of concerns raised vocally by the gamers on the Steam Forums, fansites and elsewhere on the internet, Valve has yet to issue any statements in defense of their decision to release a full fledged sequel…  More

battle.net 2.0

For those of you who may have been worrying that Blizzard might take lessons from their recent success with World of Warcraft and start charging fees for their non-MMO games, we've just got great news.

A new thread popped up in the official Battle Net forums regarding Starcraft 2 and whether people would have to pay to play on the new Battle.net. The Starcraft community manager, Karune, stepped in and posted the following comment.

"When a player buys the StarCraft II box at retail, they will have …  More

Somewhere under the myriad of veins that pulsate through the computer is something about to go wrong. It could happen anytime, to anything. Something i've always thought of is that the modern computer is like the human body, evolved through time to better fit the needs of the environment. Its CPU heart and hard drive memory work in quite a similar fashion to organic nature. So when my computer starts throwing fits on the floor, dribbling inane mess all over the screen I can't help think that when i pull out the screwdriver i'm about to perform lifesaving surgery.…  More

Plants Versus Zombies

Here at Hellforge and Limit Break, we have a dynamic community of quirky, irreverent, thoughtful readers (oh, and there’s also Agamemnon). However, we know there are plenty of lurkers in the e-shadows who rarely or never join in on the discussion. To encourage more readers to join the community and speak up, we’re going to hold a comment contest. The best comment of the month will be chosen by Sol and me and a prize will be sent to the commenter.

While the prizes will start small, we’re hoping to…  More

@simonFerrari What's also cool about that is that if you have certain combinations of characters, they'll all interact with each other.

@TheaKamilla Yah, it'll help with the overcaffeination.

Dragon Age is, for the lack of any better term, a real RPG. The reward is participating in its narrative.
